I've installed BL6 on an old laptop to test it out - it works very well and is fast, many thanks. Leafpad though takes ages to load - much longer than heavyweight apps like Chromium or Thurnderbird. I've tried reinstalling to no avail. So I've replaced it with Mousepad from the repository (which is based on Leafpad), and that loads instantly. Mousepad is very good, with extras like a toolbar. Thanks again Ylee, Stefan, and all the devs for BL6!

Apparently leaf pad has been having a few different issues. Ylee fixed one (truncating text when copying). Maybe ylee might know what’s going on here. I’ll see if I can replicate it when I finish work.

That is very strange jollyroger. Leafpad opens almost instantly on all machines I have and in my VMS. Trying to debug an issue I can not duplicate is naturally rather difficult. Do you know how to debug this or provide any information that would provide a clue as to why? Any other users have this same issue?

No problem here. Maybe running Leafpad from CLI could give us a hint...

Fine here too. How odd.
Edit - was fine on my vm not on my main machine when I checked

Leafpad takes a long time to load for me on two laptops (ACER and Gateway). Comes right up on my Dell desktop. All 3 run BL6.

Yikes. Just that it affects more than one person (and 2/3 pcs for one of those) seems really weird. I'm another that its always loaded instantly and just sounds very weird.
When I run leafpad from command line, I get no output at all. So if you slow loaders get anything at all, it may be relevant.

Thanks for all the replies. I've run Leafpad from a terminal as suggested, and here is what shows up before Leafpad runs:
/usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:596: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Images/Shadows/frame.png" /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:597: Background image options specified without filename /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:603: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Images/Shadows/frame.png" /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:604: Background image options specified without filename /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:610: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Images/Shadows/frame.png" /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:611: Background image options specified without filename /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/Button.rc:44: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Images/Buttons/button-pressed.png" /usr/share/themes/BodhiForum GTK/gtk-2.0/Button.rc:47: Background image options specified without filename

Presumably a better theme might not have this issue. Might be worth taking a look at leafpad and this theme and the rest of our gtk themes.

I updated the forum theme in the repos. No more gtk errors in the terminal. I am hoping this is the cause of the slow launch speed for some users. Oddly enough leafpad launched fast with these errors for me.

Yea, I assume the fixed GTK theme will not work. I will wait fo Jolly's feedback. If will not work, I doubt I have an idea what to do next...
