The Bodhi installer allows to choose preferred language for the installation and system - and this is great. But it doesn't allow to choose a keyboard layout switch. It would be nice to put the most common one to the file /etc/default/keyboard: ... XKBOPTIONS="grp:alt_shift_toggle" ... I tried that on the last ISO I made and tested. Sadly Ubiquity (the installer) over wrote that option on the installed system and changed it back to the default: XKBOPTIONS="". Rather than try to investigate any way of trying to change the installers default behavior or alter this file when the installed system first boots, I am going to leave it as it is by default. I am assuming Ubuntu ISOs act the same way. As always some things the user may wish on the installed system are going to have to be left to the user to set up.

Understood. Anyway this is not a critical issue and BL 6.0 beta looks cool.

If not possible during the installation, it is possible after it. Not all people are aware of keyboard module the Moksha desktop has got. The module is loaded by default in BL 6. In BL 5.1 needs to load in module section. Just add new lang layouts to keyboard module and you can switch easily among them. Hi All, I tried installing 6.0-beta on a laptop from ISO on a USB-stick, using Easy2Boot tool. Unfortunately, that didn't quite hit the mark. First, I got a couple of errors/warnings like "File is not contiguous" and then "bodhi....iso not supported by ISOBOOT". Not a big deal, since it made it to install/runlive menu after that anyway. (I can provide screenshots with exact errors if needed) However, either trying to run Bodhi live or to install it yields the same result - after watching for a while a nice green Bodhi logo screen with infinity-sign-shaped spinner, I got about nine or ten times repeated following console messages, and then a question: ------------ /init: line 49: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found /init: line 49: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found stdin: Not a typewriter stdin: Not a typewriter Unable to find a medium container a live file system. Attempt interactive netboot from URL? ------------ I agreed to boot from URL, got some questions about network configuration, DNS, Ubuntu repos, etc - and finally it kind of stalled waiting for network response. I've checked easy2boot compatibility list, and found the following note: ----- AcronisAntimalwareScanCD.iso - Note: 2011 - 2019 versions do not contain modern h/w USB drivers and so will not detect USB drives if used in most systems which have USB 3 ports (e.g. IdeaPad 300 or Z87-based PCs, etc. just give /dev/sr0 no media found error). Read more: www.easy2boot.com/add-payload-files/list-of-tested-payload-files/----- Which makes me think there might be some USB driver missing or something like that (however, my laptop has only USB 2, not 3 - it's an old Centrino-based HP530).

Nope. You're missing some bits. 32 of them
This beta is only for bodhi 6.0 standard, which supports 64-bit. You need bodhi legacy, which supports 32-bit (and there's no 6.0 beta available for it yet, so install 5.1 stable).

Actually I already have Bodhi-5.1.0-64-hwe installed there, so I doubt I'm missing any bits. It has T7400 which is totally x64.

Great joke though. made me laugh anyway. Do other things work? like rufus if you're using windows, other iso's etc etc as you probably know, troubleshooting means checking out the obvious first. Would be good if we can get it working for you (after all it is the best light weight OS available!)

If you are sure your machine is 64 bit ... I tried installing 6.0-beta on a laptop from ISO on a USB-stick, using Easy2Boot tool. Unfortunately, that didn't quite hit the mark. I have never heard of that tool before. It is not officially supported by us nor does their website list any of our ISOs as supported by their tool. But regardless here is my observations on this issue: Hi All, First, I got a couple of errors/warnings like "File is not contiguous" and then "bodhi....iso not supported by ISOBOOT". Not a big deal, since it made it to install/runlive menu after that anyway. (I can provide screenshots with exact errors if needed) Judging by what I just read on their website I would not ignore those errors. ""File is not contiguous" means your USB needs defragmented. Try following their recommendations to fix it. The message "iso not supported by ISOBOOT" is because it is trying to fall back on ISOBOOT (whatever that is) because of the first error (fragmented file). Their website also says So you can also try renaming the ISO, bodhi-6.0.0-64-beta_ubuntu.iso. I would think since Ubuntu appears to work with this tool and a few other Ubuntu based distros, Bodhi would also. I could be wrong tho as I am 100% sure I did not create this ISO the same way Ubuntu creates theirs. But I am sure ubuntu used xorriso to make their ISO as did I and the command line options for creating the ISO via xorriso were the same. (There is a CLI way of checking the arguments passed to xorriso in making a given ISO.) But if neither of my above suggestions help and you insist on using this tool you need to ask the ppl at Easy2Boot to help you. Personally I recommend using tools we know work if you are trying to install on your actual harddrive and not on this usb.

Which makes me think there might be some USB driver missing or something like that (however, my laptop has only USB 2, not 3 - it's an old Centrino-based HP530). Well.. you gave incorrect information: Centrino = Pentium Mobile which has no 64 bits (but has PAE btw). T7400 is a Core (2 Duo) product which is a different generation.
I believe your problems are not related to the beta iso but to an issue with the program you're using to create the ISO.
First try to check the USB drive for defects and if it's ok use another program for writing the ISO; I recommend Rufus if you have access to a Windows computer.
My advice to you is to use the legacy on this laptop.
Good luck!

vadim Sorry about the bits mixup, I searched that model and it came up as 32-bit in first result, but I guess multiple cpu's were offered and I was not looking at yours! I'm not familiar with ezboot, but I have tested installation with Ventoy and was successful. www.ventoy.netYou format your USB drive with ventoy then can just copy iso files to it. When you boot it, it gives you a list of iso and you pick which one to boot. You can still read and write from it like a normal flash drive, although it does take some space for its hidden boot partition stuff. On Bodhi 5 ISO's, if using rufus for windows, you had to select the 'dd' option when prompted after selecting burn. I do not know if this is necessary for Bodhi 6 (it wasnt for 4.5), but I personally only tested it two ways (ventoy and dd for linux) which both worked for me.

Feature request: Add language-selector-gnome (shows "Language Support" entry in main menu) for non-english speakers. I will be adding this as well as language-pack-* for 6 or so languages. On the language packs installed by default I am just picking countries with the highest downloads on sourceforge over the past year. Users wanting other languages will have to install what they need. I am also only adding language-pack-* no language-pack-gnome-* or hunspell-* and so. Ubuntu adds something like 70 packages related to language support. That is a bit too much for our needs. After installation language-selector-gnome can install the rest of what a user may need. And the user can also uninstall whatever they don't need as usual. This seems like the best plan to me.

I will perhaps try to play around with defragmentation, or just use ventoy instead.

No problem, there were both 32- and 64-bit CPUs supplied with different configurations of HP530. And I actually upgraded mine to T7400 a while ago. I will try using Ventoy if I fail to make it work with e2b. Thanks for the advice!
