Dear forists,
I yesterday installed BL on my 2004 T42 and it is running well. As the fan is running on full speed all the time, I'd like to change the fan speed control.
I ran
sudo sensors-detect
and got "no sensors detected".
running "sensors" yields a list with the fan speed and the temp on 4 sensors.
running "sudo pwmconfig" runs gets "pwm1_enable stuck to 2"
With a research I found the following commands
sudo rmmod thinkpad_acpi
sudo modprobe thinpad_acpi fan_control=1
sudo sh -c 'echo 1 > /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1/device/pwm1_enable'
which ran through without error messages.
The path
/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1
in the 3rd command is a link to
/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_hwmon/hwmon/hwmon1
So that the whole real path written out is
/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_hwmon/hwmon/hwmon1/device/pwm1_enable
now the ".../device/..." is again a link to
/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_hwmon
so that we end up in the directory
/sys/devices/platform/thinkad_hwmon/
I really wonder whether this complexity is of any use. Ok.
Now I was able to create a valid /etc/fancontrol configuration file with pwmconfig (attached).
Running "fancontrol" now, I get:
"Error: file hwmon1/device/pwm1 doesn't exist. ..."
There is one location, where a text file "pwm1" is existing:
/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_hwmon
Could someone try and help me to solve this, i.d. make fancontrol find "pwm1"?
Thx so much for reading until here.
