Hi, so...

Two questions

I had asked this question on the Discord group. I hope it's not a problem if I post the same thing here. So, I've given the details of my system here. I have a few small issues. Bodhi is not as snappy as I thought it would be. It slightly lags. Is it because I've enabled animations? If so, how can I disable it. I had asked this question on Discord a few days back and I was told to check if any acceleration was enabled in the Elementary configuration setting. It was not. And still there was this lag. Like when I scroll through the appliactions menu, it'd take a few seconds (considerable delay actually) to bring up the list box or it takes around 16 seconds for libreoffice writer to load the first time and 6 seconds for the times after. Considering the specifications of my laptop, is this normal? Can the speed be increased?

So, among all the themes in Bodhi, this is my favourite: MokshaArcGreen.
But a small problem with the theme is this:

If you would notice the tools in Libreoffice, they are very light and not that visible. So, keeping the theme, can I change this? Can I make it darker so that it is visible (but also not changing MokshaArcGreen theme)?

P.S. It's not just in libreoffice but in many other apps like Falkon browser or even in the file manager.

i also use the mokshaarcgreen theme, but change the gtk application theme (with lxappearance as well as in settings -> application theme where i also uncheck the box at the bottom that says "match moksha theme if possible) to make libreoffice and pcmanfm (the default file manager) easier to read and navigate.

Hi! So, the second problem has been solved. Apparantly, what happened was that I had set my icons to match a dark background. I changed it and now the tools are visible clearly.

Accelaration or animation?
I'm not familiar with e/moksha settings, but these are definitely two different things.
Accelaration is potentially beneficial.
Animation puts stress on resources.

In any case this has nothing to do with moksha settings. I'm guessing this is normal on your old hardware. What does it say about RAM?

I think the lagging has to do with animation. Is there any way to switch off animation effects? If so, please explain.
And with regard to RAM, it's only 1.4 GB which is way less. So, yes, it might be that. But then I also have MX Linux installed on the same system and that is running somewhat better than this. Which is why my suspicions fall back to animation as Bodhi is lighter than MX.

in my experience it is hard to determine what a particular setting will do on someone else's system. it should be an easy and quick process to give it a try and see if your system behaves any differently. the changes i have made with elementary config have all been immediate so you should know fairly quickly and be able to switch back if there is no improvement.

And with regard to RAM, it's only 1.4 GB which is way less.

htop is a fairly lightweight program you can use to see what kind of system resources you are using. top works too, but i feel like the colors in htop help me keep track of things more easily. the only time i used mx i believe they had conky set up and i prefer that to the above, but getting it going can take some work whereas htop is good to go after install.

These are two totally different things, please just look up their dictionary definitions wrt Computers.

I think so too.
I do not currently use Bodhi, but a Quick Search should help: ...hem, 5 minutes later, still nothing.
OK, I'm sure you can find the related settings either in moksha's settings GUI or in one of the config files under ~/.e
