Not sure if I understand but do you want to see app icons on the desktop or panel? If you want on desktop, you have to enable "desktop icons" in module settings and place desktop files from /usr/share/applications to desktop folder in your home folder. If you wanna icons on the panel (shelf), you have to add apps via iBar module. Right click and add apps in content.

I've update the Bodhi wiki documentation for Moksha Basics. Take a look at the subsection titled Desktop Icons, for details on how to enable desktop icons (which are disabled by default).

OK, thanx for your work. We need it a lot. Anyway, could I ask you for the section extention? I think it could be fine to write that all icons are stored in ~/Desktop directory. Moreover in case the user wants to have applications there, he has to copy desktop files from /usr/share/applications. I face this request pretty often on the forum. Thanx in advance Stefan

Thanx in advance Stefan Great suggestion (there's lot's to do!!). FYI. I've update the Moksha Basics and specifically expanded the subsection titled: Desktop Icons, it now covers adding icons for installed apps & folders. All feedback welcomed (good/bad/indifferent) - feel free to DM me in discord if preferred (so not to dilute this forum thread)

How did you create shortcuts to folders? Do you mean links? If so, can just rename them. If you are not using links, maybe give that a try. You can create links with your file manager, for example with thunar, highlight the folder, then select "make link" from the edit menu. Then rename and drag it to Desktop.
Or, from terminal, use ln command
ln -s /folder/to/link ~/Desktop/"What to call the link"

I made the shortcuts with PCmanFM with edit>create link. There is no option to rename. On the desktop screen the folder icons are, there but no description, the same if i put there a link to a picture The description becomes only visible when i click on a icon. Look here:

Uh oh. There should be labels unless you turned them off. Maybe it's a theme problem - I bet its black text on transparent background. To see if I'm right, drag one of them on top of the white bodhi logo.... if that works, set your wallpaper to theme provided to determine if its a bug or related to your customization (and report result).... then solve by using lighter wallpaper of your choosing or try other themes, etc, see if any offer desktop icons with labels that arent black text on transparent background.

I changed the wallpaper and now the labels are visible. I can't drag the icons on the desktop screen its that default? The default view mode is "custom icons" which allows moving them; the alternatives are grid (which looks like icons arranged in a grid but user cannot move) and list (also cant move but smaller icons in list...)
I dont use this module much personally so not familiar with all the settings, but suggest just check them all to see what they do if they are not named something obvious.
