Hello So sorry for my noob question and my bad english. I have tried to install the drivers of my nvidia geforce 630m which is the graphic card of my main Pc. I was unable to do it despite the official recommendations: www.bodhilinux.com/w/installing-closed-source-nvidia-drivers/It's running fine under Manjaro. Would please explain how to install my adequate graphic and wifi drivers within BodhiLInux? Thanks by advance.

Hi Zuul
It looks like you need the legacy driver for that series. Is that the one you tried to install?

Thank you for answering, I think I installed the Geforce driver and not the legacy one. I will try again very soon.

The installation fails. There is no nvidia 304 version but the driver exists in the database. It means generally that the pack is failing, obsolete or present on another source. Edit: it doesn't matter because i have 2 other machines with Bodhilinux. I realize how much nvidia drivers are problematic. "Aucune version du paquet nvidia-304 n'est disponible, mais il existe dans la base de données. Cela signifie en général que le paquet est manquant, qu'il est devenu obsolète ou qu'il n'est disponible que sur une autre source E: Le paquet « nvidia-304 » n'a pas de version susceptible d'être installée"

Have you upgraded since installing Bodhi? I'm not sure it will help, but it's worth doing anyway then we can start trouble shooting from an up to date system.

The problem remains the same after having typed sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade in Terminology:

Wow that was quick. I am the author of the post that Zuul mentioned on Linux Questions. I was about to post about this very issue when I saw this post.
I have found that Ubuntu 16.04 (LTS) and its derivatives will install this driver. that's why I just installed Bodhi 4.5. It works great on it. Also works on other Ubuntu 16 based distros. But Ubuntu 18 and its derivatives, it just won't install. Unless you install the 4.4 kernel, which I plan to do next April.
Zuul, what version of Bodhi are you running?

Hello rcatbc and mdiemer. Thank you for your kind answers. I have used Boddhi 5.1 standard and hwe, based on Ubuntu 18.04. I am not against using Bodhi 4.5 to get a good issue with my nvidia card. Do you think that waiting for Bodhi 6 (probably based on Ubuntu 20.04) could be a better solution ?

If you need the 304 driver for your current graphical hardware, then I'm pretty sure only Bodhi 4.5 will let you install it. I have this straight from NVIDIA, by the way. Unless you install the 4.4 Linux kernel. Fortunately, that kernel is super-long-term supported, all the way to 2024. so you could do that.
If your system can handle it, and you can afford it, a new graphics card would solve the problem. I would go that route myself, but my system probably can't handle it. Then you can probably install any operating system you want, allowing of course for the relevant specs (how heavy the desktop environment is, for example).

Now i have a good compromise with Manjaro. I previously found the right 390.. proprietary drivers with Linux Mint 19&20 but they caused an excessive heat when using them. 70°C to run Serious Sam First Encounter is not a serious affair. For sure the best solution is changing the graphic card as you say. However I will try the solution you talk about Bodhi 4.5. Best regards. Have a nice weekend. Edit : i have installed Bodhi 4.5 and observed some problems while upgrading the system. I did not insist and restored my Manjaro backup. I dont feel as a Bodhi Traitor. My 2 other machines run under Bodhilinux 5.1. Maybe BodhiLinux 6 will solve this question.

It won't work with Bodhi 5, because it uses a later kernel than Bodhi 4. You need the 4.4 kernel or earlier for that driver. the command will work on Bodhi 4.5, I did it yesterday. All these numbers can be really confusing! Bodhi "4.5" and "5" are of course operating systems. "Kernel 4.4" refers to the Linux kernel used by those systems. Bodhi 4 uses the 4.x kernel. Bodhi 5 probably uses the 5.x kernel. I don't know for sure as I'm very new to this system. Just trying to make things a bit clearer.
