This is really not another distro but I was not sure where to post this.
Keep in mind I came to Bodhi because I had a need to find a distro to install on old resource challenged systems. From time to time someone will ask me to help them with an old laptop or PC and if they are are interested I will set them up with linux, typically Mint - I don't do Windows or Mac). Mint is fine in a lot of cases if the system has a half decent CPU and >= 4Gib RAM. I have tried all the usual ubuntu based suspects - and they all seemed, meh OK . . . . I mean they ran better than the old Windows but Bodhi is really the best solution IMHO for resource challenged systems because of the "no bloat everything light you decide what you want to add" philosophy.
Bodhi is running super on an old MacBook 2core 2Gib Ram and I am going to install Bodhi for an older gentleman this weekend on an old HP netbook - I will know the specs when I get my hands on it but suspect it is similar to the MacBook.
I experimented running Bodhi on this Lenovo T430 i7 8Gib Ram - and it screams. I removed Moksha, PCmanFM, Epiphany and terminology and replaced them with Cinnamon, nemo, Firefox and gnome-terminal. And it still screams and much faster than Mint Cinnamon, which I really like and have been using since 2013. What really shocked me though was how fast it shuts down and boots.
Bodhi will now be my base OS regardless of hardware.

Awesome use of the hard work ylee puts in making a minimal as possible base that is functional. No cruft lol.
That's one of the things I love about FOSS is that doing this like this is not only possible, but encouraged. Thanks for sharing with us.

This is a perfect place to post this. Even tho your FrankenBodhi started off as a Bodhi install you have modified it into another OS completely. Bodhi has a reputation for running well on older systems with low resources. Recommended along with several other distros for this task all over the internet. As a result many of our users are using Bodhi for that reason and maybe even that reason alone. But literally " screams" on a good system, esp if you keep it more or less clean of unneeded stuff running in the background. One hint on that is to always install using apt --no-install-recommends. But take a look at the recommended packages in the deb file to see if perhaps you might need some of it after all. By all means use Bodhi as a base, just be aware if you install another DE then you may have problems getting support for whatever issues you may run into. That may or may not bother you depends upon how good you are at providing your own support.

THX good advice - I have not really looked into --no-install-recommends and I definitely will explore that option. Also good point about support - not a big deal for me on any system I modify in this fashion for myself but when I do provide a linux install for others this may not be a good idea as I am pretty much a monkey with a machine gun with this stuff.
