Hello, I have seen a thread on this forum regarding "suspend when lid closes". Maybe I am wrong, but I did not find a topic on "shutdown bodhi when lid closes". After having installed Gedit, I ran the following command: sudo gedit /etc/systemd/logind.conf In there I changed HandleLidSwitch=poweroff – for a shutdown after a lid close. This however, did not change anything. I have read about acpi bindings in the other post, this seems rather complicated. Is there maybe a simple way to influence the lid behavior? acpi bindings is the way to go. Give it a try.

I gave it a try, I found the setting. It says "Deksel gesloten" (lid closed). The action connected to this is "Uitschakelen" (shut down). I press OK, but when I close the lid, nothing happens unfortunately.

You might need to click apply then ok.

I did press apply, then ok, made sure the settings were saved. However, when I close the lid, nothings happens. Do I maybe have to this as an Administrator?

No, but if it’s any consolation it doesn’t seem to work here either. I’ll have a proper look when I get a few minutes and try and work out why. Maybe we’re missing something.

You have to uncomment HandleLidSwitch=poweroff. Remove # char at the line. Reboot your PC

And btw, Bodhi already comes with a simple gui text editor called "leafpad", as well as a simple cli text editor "nano" so no need to install gedit unless you prefer it.
