Hi!
I'm not totally brand new to Linux, but totally new to Bodhi and Moksha. It's definitely different, and very satisfying so far for my minimal needs. I haven't even read the Wiki yet, so I'll save my silly questions for later if I can't find the answers by the usual self-help means.
Bodhi seems to use a lot less resources than my usual Xfce-based favorites (MX, Mint Xfce, Xubuntu, and Linux Lite). But stuff is verrrry slow to launch. But I expected that anyway since I loaded it to an ancient Toshiba Satellite - one step up from an abacus. The fact that it runs at all is fantastic!
I'll be sure to post more after I have done some reading on my own.
Thanks!

Welcome to Bodhi....
SSD are SUPER cheap these days. It's worth the $20 for a 128GB drive, best upgrade you'll ever make (to a machine using a spinning disk).

I've upgraded many PCs and laptops with an SSD, and the performance boost is incredible, above all with old rigs. I have many Core2Duo that I'm using every week ( a Toshiba Satellite 17 inches, two ThinkPads and an Acer Extensa 5220 ) and the combination SSD+Bodhi works great. I paid 9 euro for a 128gb SSD at AliExpress. It's like 2 beers.

I have bought 512 GB SSD (28 €) a week ago for my mother's Acer Inspire 3810T with Intel Solo, 1,4 GHz. My first target was cloning HDD to SSD but it failed with clonezilla (bad sectors) as well as with hardware cloning device. Anyway, I had to reinstall W7 and Bodhi from scratch. Result: fully usable 14 yo machine to mother's happiness.

Many "payware" software do not let you migrate the OS ( it´s a "Premium" feature! ). Wich app for Linux would you use for it? If your mothers laptop has 4gb ram, you could think about upgrading to Win10. With a couple of tweaks, it should work ok.

I hate Windows. I would probably use SystemBack to simply copy my existing OS (settings and stuff included) onto the new drive. I use it instead of Timeshift for exactly that reason.
