Recent screens have gotten bigger, or to be more accurate screen resolutions have gotten better and better (4k UHD etc) but try this one on a live USB session: pick any shelf, and pretend you want to add an item e.g. a 'settings' button.
There are a couple of ways to do this, but let's start with Settings > Shelves
Select any shelf that you have by highlighting it, and click Contents. You will see what this post is about. Why can't I stretch the Shelf Contents dialog? I have virtually unlimited vertical space, yet I cannot resize the dialog to view the entire set? I have to hit the scrollbar repeatedly to get to 'keyboard'? (I chose the default shelf that appears initially at setup.) This does not make sense at all.
Now I understand that this not a hot button item, and there could be more critical issues to resolve. I think the dialog is a throwback to earlier versions of enlightenment; it can however use a little tweak to make all of e twenty-first century compatible. I know you work together with the e developers, and maybe they might agree to a little improvement in this area.
The issue is not apparent because once you have finalized your desktop, you hardly revisit Shelf contents. In fact, it is not a glaring issue, although it remains -- just a minor annoyance.

OK, if I understand you just want to have resizeable shelf content dialog. It is one command to add to the code. Yes, we communicate with raster. I am not sure he wants to accept this demand. He has also very tiny Settings Panel dialog in E. I have no idea why. He is a cool guy and ultra great coder, but sorta stubborn in some cases. I changed the Settings Panel in Moksha to be bigger. And yes, it is an annoyance. Just out of curiosity: may I ask you why you are using E instead of Moksha? Really, nothing personal, or subjective (as a Moksha developer). Does E fits you better? Is there something you miss in Moksha? Stefan PS: not bad idea with resizing shelf content dialog. Let me change it in Moksha PS2: do you know, you can use keyboard typing to get to the list item? Just start typing "keyb..." EDIT: github.com/JeffHoogland/moksha/commit/7f4a292d7d101a42ed8d94ddc53819e7b2ca04bd

You know me well, and only after a couple of forum posts and queries. I salute you
I started using e when e16 was out (think mid 90's or so) and was attracted to its aesthetic approach and extreme customizing capabilities.
I was a distrohopper and still am, but lately there has been little incentive to change distros. I have stayed with e and even tried it on a few distros that may have included it e.g. puppy, Bodhi, Sparky etc.
What made me hold back on Bodhi was the Ubuntu base, which is really just a personal distaste of what the latter stood for. Granted, Ubuntu pushed Linux to the front, and it cannot be ignored.
Then e17 kind of froze, and in comes Moksha, with themes that are easy on the eyes.
Bodhi and E25 together? I tried it, of course. But with no online connection (a failure on my part, not Bodhi) my choices were narrowed further--I could not install the Bodhi goodies (themes and art packs) to pure E
Now you've made it interesting: a desktop tweak that enhances the E experience; in other words, an enlightened version of e? Is THAT even possible? I think congratulations are in order.
When you think about it, the distrohopper has evolved into USB living-on-the-edge user. He doesn't really install anything.
Thank you for the tip re keyboard typing to zoom in to your choice.
