There seems to be a mis configuration in the geany package on Bodhi 6.
The message window is hidden even if you select Show message window from the menu.
Quit Geany and then the fix is to open the geany.config file in your user .config/geany folder and change the following line:
msgwindow_position=845
to something like
msgwindow_position=400
Save the file.
Start Geany and the window is visible again.
Adjust the height of the message window to your liking.
