Hello! Full disclosure: I am absolutely useless with tech stuff. However, after a few hiccups, I have managed to install Linux Mint Cinnamon on a couple of laptops. I'm very happy with it, so I thought I would try revitalising a Toshiba Encore WT8-B tablet (https://uk.dynabook.com/discontinued-products/encore-2-wt8-b-102/?expandTabContent=true) by installing Linux on that (if I remember rightly, the last time I used the tablet I got a message about it not having the 'brain' to be able to handle Windows 10). I happened upon Bodhi Linux, which seemed to fit the bill perfectly, namely the Legacy version. As far as I can tell I've managed to make a bootable USB - when i plug it into my Linux laptop it's listed as "Bohdi Linux...", at any rate. When I try to boot the tablet with it plugged in, though, it's listed as "Verbatim Store n Go". And I can't seem to persuade the tablet to alter the boot order, to put the USB above the HDD (or whatever it is). There is a 'help' menu, but that seems to be kind-of generic, for laptops rather than tablets, as you use keys to move things around - and a tablet, of course, doesn't have a keyboard (unless someone knows how to make one appear on the screen before the machine has booted up!). I've tried to move the USB 'up' using a stylus, but all that seems to do is 'open' the USB, only it doesn't actually open the Linux USB, it opens Windows instead. Does anyone have any thoughts, please? Thanks for reading, Alison

hi, enigma..
Good point - and it turns out I can! I can move through the boot menu by using the up and down arrows, but I tried some other keys and none of them seemed to be recognised.
Thanks ever so much for the reply, btw - I'm so dense it would NEVER have occurred to me to try a USB keyboard! (I have a bluetooth keyboard for the tablet but even though I had got the tablet to recognise that in Windows, it doesn't seem to recognise it when it's in the boot menu.)
