My job required me to muck about with Sun's OS, Unix, and Centos / RedHat Linux, and I use Fedora on several other systems. I have gotten skilled through the years of looking at logs to both diagnose with the products I was testing and with hardware during setup and reconfiguration. Like "less messages" and searching for terms of interest, checking dnf.log to see why a package install went wrong, or looking through Xorg.0.log to figure out why a display is wonky.
I have vary little exposure to Ubuntu and Debian distros.
I'm a little baffled by the set of logs in my just-installed Bodhi system.
Can someone recommend a FAQ or how-to that explains the different logs, and how to use them to diagnose a problem?
For example, while I have installed the recommended Broadcom driver on my HP Mini, I haven't seen it scan for WiFi yet. Right now it is syncing my shared directories, but I want to look into the WiFi situation next. What logs should I look through see, for example, a kernel module not loading, or the hardware not being initialized?
Thanks,
Stefan

And look for the "journalctl" command too: How To Use Journalctl to View and Manipulate Systemd Logs.
