I am new to Linux, having used Linux for close to 3months now. I use a acer c720 series chrome book with about 2gig of ram and a 16gig of ssd. Was using a gallium os, been using this os but it works fine apart from it random freezing after awhile of running the system with some internet access. I ventured into looking for light weight os and stumbled on bodhi Linux.
I download bodhi Linux version 6.0 both standard and apppack versions. Used ubootnetin to create image on usb. But each time , I boot from the usb on my chrome book, I get error message: “not enough memory to load specified image”.
I need some help on how to go about this problem.

Congrats on using Linux - it's always exciting to see people giving it a go! It sounds like the write-out may not have been successful. Your system should support Bodhi without issue, spec. wise. I would try downloading Bodhi Linux again, verify integrity of the file and then try re-writing it. I believe there are some known issues with using Unetbootin - if you are comfortable with command line, I recommend the 'dd' method outlined here: www.bodhilinux.com/w/installation-instructions/#B_Command-Line_8216dd8217_Method_Linux_OnlyThe installation instructions wiki in general may have some tips to assist you as well (if you haven't checked it out already). The freeze up sounds like a possible heat issue. Clean out any fans with compressed air and make sure the Chromebook is on a solid surface when using it. Please keep us posted.

Thank you very much for your help. I solved the problem by formatting the usb and creating image through terminal

Please I haven’t install the bodhi Linux yet because my mousepad is misbehaving in fact I can only use an external mouse. My question is do I go ahead and install the os before rectifying the problem because I can’t seem to find xinput list from the try option of the os?

Sounds like progress is being made! If I'm understanding correctly, this link may be of interest to you and/or pertinent: www.linuxquestions.org/questions/bodhi-92/where-are-trackpad-settings-4175669226/ Otherwise, as far as I know, connecting an external mouse then installing should not be an issue. If the external mouse works, I would just install and attempt to resolve the trackpad issues after. The trackpad issue may even resolve during install. Unfortunately my two current Bodhi Linux systems are desktops, so I'm not able to troubleshoot much else trackpad related. That said, other users likely have experiences to share. Please keep us posted!

yea progressed was made. I am sorry for taking this long to reply back. The mousepad seems to be less sensitive and have not corrected after install. The bodhi linux seems to be different from gallium os. But much faster. I think I will manage maybe, one day I will stumble on the right way to customize the trackpad. Thank You for you encouragement and help
