Hi there hoping I can get some advice on this: I installed Bodhi on my old Chromebook and find that there is no sound (dummy output). Following the instructions here, I first found the snd_hda_intel kernel module is in use. Then I ran this command echo "options snd-hda-intel model=generic" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Now "Built in audio digital Stereo (HDMI)" showed up but still no sound. What next steps can I try?

Hello
replace model=generic with model=auto in alsa-base.conf
sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf sudo reboot
If I remember this helped me with my friend's laptop. Why not to try it...

OK, before I go to the bed:
generic looks promising. Write it back to the file. Then open alsamixer in terminal and try to look if some channels are not muted. Press F6 for changing card and play with the settings. "M" is for unmuting and arrows for moving to the right and left...
Stefan
PS: I would like to see your issue solved when I get up in the morning, lol

Almost appears in the 3rd image that they are muted.
EDIT: click the sound icon right of System Sounds and Chromium... also check other tabs to see if they have a line through them.

May I have some more command outcomes? cat /proc/asound/cards aplay -L THX Also, you can check the outputs in pulsemixer (output tab) and choose chtrt5650 Stefan EDIT: check this link blog.bullspit.co.uk/linux/manjaro-audio-edgar/EDIT: I can see your headphones output in alsamixer but volume is 0. Have you increased the volume with up arrow? EDIT: in alsmamixer I can see you can move to right screen with right arrow. There should be more settings

Thank you wimc I clicked on it and it looks like this: Attachment Muted, you can tell when something is muted, the green line for volume is dimmer, if you click the image left of the lock icon, the green line will become darker brighter.
