System: Bodhi Legacy, Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 2Gb Ram A tragic fan of old games, I have somehow, through more luck than judgement, installed 'Stella' (Atari 2600 Emulator), and Wine which allowed me to install Microsoft Arcade (16-bit) which has Asteroids, Battle Tank, Centipede, Missile Command etc. Both work fine. Now then, back in the day, I also owned (and still have SETUP.EXE installation files) Microsoft Return of Arcade for Windows 95 (Pole Position, Dig Dug etc.) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Arcade#Microsoft_Return_of_ArcadeSadly Return of Arcade won't install on Wine reporting 'this is not for this version of Windows' (or similar) and gives up almost immediately. Is there any "easy peasy" way to force Wine to work with Windows 95 specific software? I know back in the day the software was 32 bit and only for Windows 95 (Pole Position is a must). Any help appreciated, and thanks for reading this.

I don’t use wine, when I need to use Windows stuff I just use Windows, but have you tried play on linux it looks like their website is currently down, but I’m in a field on my mobile so it could be that.

I managed to install it with playonlinux. Configured wine before running SETUP.EXE to 'Windows 95' and eventually it installed. I created a few playonlinux icons on the Bodhi desktop (sorry for the Windows terminology) which don't seem to work (File Not Found) but loading playonlinux and then loading each of them in there seems to work. However, no sound, that's my next task. Thanks for the tip off!

OK, good news, I have solved the sound issue Also, playonlinux was not required. To install Microsoft Return of The Arcade for Windows 95 on wine (Wine 3.0), after installing wine, I simply used:
and changed the settings Windows Version to: Windows 95
I reinstalled Microsoft Return Of Arcade using the original disks (copied to HDD in directories).
Everything installed fine but there was still no sound (not a wine/linux issues I have since discovered).
I simply located the folder where the file DSINTERFACE.DLL was located, renamed it as shown above I am now playing Dig Dug, Pole Position, Pac Man and Galaxian with the sound.
SOLVED!

I have a P4 2.8 GHz too, but only 512mb. One hint, if you have CRT monitor especially, is switch resolution to 640x480 or 800x600 and fullscreen for games. Games that lag for me at my normal 1280x1024 without doing that usually work great then. If you like retro style games, there's a few native linux games you could check out too, Supertux and Extreme Tux Racer come to mind. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:supertux-dev/daily sudo apt install supertux extremetuxracer There's also emulators, snes works just fine in retroarch, as do several other consoles. They even offer an OpenGL 1 renderer if your P4 needs it (mine does) you can set in config file. Or if you want to get fancy, you can even build Super Mario 64 native, I happened to make a script to do that github.com/enigma9o7/smlinux or you can just go to source repo and follow their instructions. Like retroarch, there's a gl1.2 renderer available, but set it in config file before build, and to run well on my P4 I had to 640x480.
