I think something has changed with the kernel.
Since reaching version 5.4.0-100 or shortly after, my web browsing is running slower.
There seems to be an extra second of waiting when using most web browsers when loading a page.
I reloaded kernel 5.4.0-96 to test. Yes, it's faster to load web pages.
This has me thinking. Maybe it's time to learn how to compile my own kernel in order to increase efficiency.

well how bout 5.4.0-113, the current version? If some regression was introduced that slowed down browsers in 5.4.0-100, hopefully you weren't the only one to notice and they've already fixed it?
But building kernel sounds advanced, although my understanding is you can get more efficiency if you build kernel and apps to utilize the exact cpu features you have.

It seems all of the kernels past 100 have created a slowdown of sorts with web browsing. It's not severe. Just noticeable. What I understand is there are many options in the kernel being loaded that I don't need. But I've never compiled it.
I ordered a faster CPU that I found for $5.41 and will install when I can. It will be 3 GHz. I currently have 1.8 GHz.
