For fun in a VM, I tried to see how minimal ubuntu could be with minimal effort.
I installed ubuntu-server from iso then after running updates I did the following:
sudo apt install xserver-xorg lxde --no-install-recommends sudo apt remove ubuntu-server snapd reboot sudo apt autoremove
All said and done, it came out 846 packages with ~220MB memory usage at boot. Not too bad.

Hi. It really was very good, fewer packages installed and lighter.

Yep, LXDE desktop is almost as light as Moksha...

What i am curious to see is if moksha with 22.04 is lighter than bl 6 (20.04). Boot times, idle mem usage, number of packages intalled, which version feels snappier overall... Could we get an idea if we compare ubuntu server 20.04 with server edition 22.04? What is most important to me is if bl that will be based on 22.04 will not have anything to do with flatpacks appimages or snaps... Since from my experience each new version of ubuntu gets heavier i will stick with bl 6 til eol

Interesting. I recently did a minimal Ubuntu 22.04 install on my music rig. I added XFCE4, just the DE, not the one that basically turns it into Xubuntu. I uninstalled Snap, and installed Libre Wolf browser. Also added Abiword and Gnumeric, all the Office I need. Updates are quick and easy. Oh, I also installed Wine Staging, as I run some windows software on my DAW, Reaper For Linux. It works great, although boot up is a bit slow as it's on a HDD.
I agree that LXDE is almost as light as Moksha. Those two are the only reliable DEs I can use on my old Gateway AMD dual core, with onboard graphics. Some distros will work with XFCE, like Devuan, but eventually I get display failures.
I hope Bodhi 7 does not come with snap.
